Overnight Matron
Overview
We are seeking a warm and caring person to work as Overnight Matron as part of our medical and matron team, to look after the medical needs of children aged 7 - 13 who board at Sandroyd.
Sandroyd is an independent, co-educational prep school for day and boarding pupils. We aim to develop children through a combination of a caring and supportive environment with the provision of stimulating opportunities in and out of the classroom.
This is a sleeping duty, although there may be a requirement to get up during the night when children are feeling unwell, or when children are staying in the Health Centre. No specialist qualifications are required, but an ability to work independently is essential. Single accommodation is provided.
Duties
- To take responsibility for the first aid provision of overnight boarding pupils (training will be provided).
- To take responsibility for children who are recovering from minor ailments in the Health Centre under the direction of the school nurse.
- Work with the Houseparents, to liaise with parents concerning boarding issues to ensure that they are informed about any significant incidents.
- To ensure that the Houseparents or, in their absence, the Headmistress or Deputy Head on duty, are made aware immediately of any major incident taking place within the boarding house.
- Helping with the evening routine in the boarding house
- To liaise with the school nurse regarding pupils’ overnight medical requirements.
The hours of work are 6.45pm - 7.15am, Monday to Saturday during term times only, which is typically 33 weeks per year.
