Practical Information for Parents
Communication with home
Every day your child’s Key Worker will share information with you about your child’s day, including what they have eaten, key learning focuses, ‘Wow’ moments, and any other relevant details.
Timings and food
Our day starts at 8:30am, with drop-off from 8:15am.
The morning includes a snack of fruit at 10am and a full hot lunch at 12pm, there is also a mid-afternoon snack of fruit and vegetables. The morning session for nursery children runs until 12:30pm and afternoon session runs from 12:30pm to 3:45pm.
Your child does not need to bring in a water bottle as we have water dispensers and suitable cups for them to use.
In the dining room our children sit with Pre-Prep staff where they are served a hot lunch in family-style dining. We provide booster seats and high chairs for children who need these and we help the children to eat by cutting up their food where necessary and ensuring they have suitable cutlery.
We are keen that the children learn about a healthy diet and this is reflected in the meals at school. Please do let our Sister, Roselle Dugdale, know if your child has any allergies or any other food requirements so that we can ensure they are catered for.
Uniform and equipment
In the Nursery the children are encouraged to wear the Pre-Prep purple sweatshirt. This is worn with sensible home-clothes (not denim please) such as tracksuit trousers. They may also wear our Reception uniform or our school sports kit if you prefer as this helps them to feel part of our school. It is important that the children are free to play and explore, therefore ‘best’ clothes are not a good idea!
Footwear needs to be closed-toe and preferably Velcro or buckle fastening as shoelaces can be rather frustrating! All children will also need P.E / Games kit as we are often outside and this also acts as a useful set of spare clothes should the need arise.
Please ensure they have their swimming kit (including swim nappy if necessary) on Fridays. They should also always have the following items in school everyday:
- Sunhat
- Coat
- Waterproof clothing (including coat and trousers)
- Wellies
We are fortunate to be surrounded by beautiful surroundings and are keen to enjoy them as much as possible, so it is important that your child has the right clothing so that they are ready for all weather!
If your child is in nursery and wears nappies, please make sure to bring plenty in, as well as a couple of sets of spare clothes, particularly if they are potty-training. We will support children with whatever stage of potty-training they are at and will take the parents’ lead on this.
** Please can you ensure that all items of clothing and equipment that come into the Pre-Prep are clearly named.
Sleep
Many of the nursery children do not sleep during the day, although for some this is a very important time to catch up on some much-needed rest. Please let us know if you would like your child to sleep; we have a dedicated sleeping room. For those who don’t sleep, after lunch, the children enjoy some quiet time and a story before the afternoon’s activities.
