Food
The food served is a wonderfully unique blend of home-cooked family favourites, made with restaurant quality professionalism, with a very firm eye on nutritional balance for growing minds and bodies. All of the food is planned, sourced and cooked by our Head Chef and his team. Menus are carefully planned before the beginning of each term and rotate on a three-weekly basis. Daily menus and ingredients are checked by Sister and our knowledgeable team, and altered to suit each child's special dietary requirements.
The day begins with a variety of cereals, and fruit, as well as smoothies, juices, yoghurt and granola followed by a hot option. There is a fruit cart from which pupils can pick whenever they want. Lunch is a set menu with family service where all pupils and staff sit together and serve each other at the table. Our school teas include a varied and colourful offering of salad - available each evening, this is accompanied by a hot option which is a diverse mix of culinary influences. Desserts and puddings are also an all-important occasional lunchtime treat, offering seasonal favourites. Balancing out sugar content with full flavour and fresh fruit where possible, our puddings are a delight for the children, with 'school classics' such as sponge puddings, and lighter fresher desserts like cheesecake and Eton Mess to make it an exciting end to their meal..
Where possible, all the food is made on the premises, which means we can keep a close eye on salt and sugar intake, and pride ourselves on the fact that our food is monitored for high-quality ingredients. Our meat is provided by a renowned local butcher, J. Mato & Son; fish is delivered from Premier Fish; all our eggs are free range; and fresh fruit and vegetables are delivered to the school each day by Country Fare. We are proud to be awarded 5 stars from the Food Standards Agency for food hygiene.
