Military Families

We understand the challenges faced by military families, especially when one or both parents are posted overseas. The boarding at Sandroyd offers a nurturing and supportive environment which meets the needs of children from military backgrounds, ensuring they feel at home while receiving an excellent education.

Support for Military Families

We offer discounts and bursaries to all of our military families. All military families receive a standard discount of 10% off fees. Military bursaries are also available, including where parents only pay 10% of the fee plus CEA. We would encourage parents to enquire about the levels of financial support available. Please discuss this with the Headmaster during your visit, or contact the Bursar.

In addition, Sara Stevens, our Finance Bursar, is well versed in the complexities of allowances and childcare vouchers and is on hand to offer advice and support through any of the bureaucracy that can arise regarding claiming CEA.

Our Commitment to Military Families

We are very proud to have a strong and supportive military community within Sandroyd. Our pastoral strength is evidenced by our dedicated Pastoral Staff, and our boarding is split into three distinct houses ensuing each pupil experiences a 'home from home' boarding experience. A number of our staff have a military background, or have boarded as a child from a military family, including the Headmaster. This understanding of military life allows us to provide exceptional care and support for your children.

Our Houseparents are adept at supporting military children during times of uncertainty, whether their parents are on operations, abroad, or just relocating frequently. We ensure that each child’s well-being is prioritised through personalised care, comfort, and family support.

A Balanced Boarding Community

What sets Sandroyd apart is our thriving boarding community, housed in three distinct houses. We have a balanced mix of both military and non-military families, and it is this diversity that creates an inclusive environment where children can enjoy a well-rounded experience that extends beyond a purely military context. With boarders from local families, military backgrounds, and those from further afield, we foster a community that helps children build lifelong friendships and feel part of a larger, supportive network.

Our weekends are particularly lively, with a large number of boarders staying on Saturday and Sunday nights, during which we offer a varied programme of events as well as time for rest and recuperation to prepare for the week ahead.

Day Pupils

Military parents who wish their children to attend as day pupils and remain eligible for CEA support should contact the Bursar for a personalised quotation.
