Learning Support
Sandroyd has a specialist department of experienced and qualified teachers, trained to teach children with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties.
Extra support can be provided on a one-to-one basis where children are withdrawn from non-core subjects. Support is provided to enhance literacy and numeracy skills, and as children progress through the school, further support is offered for study skills.
Learning difficulties can present challenges for the brightest of children and it is important to provide support as early as possible, in order that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. It may be appropriate for a child to be assessed by an Educational Psychologist or other outside agency. Any recommendations made by these professionals will be implemented in their learning support lessons and throughout the school.
