Year 8 Boys' Sports Tour

We set off on our Sports Tour on Friday morning. First stop was Somerset Cricket ground in Taunton where we had our lunch whilst taking in the view of a rather wet looking pitch! We then headed onto Kings Hall, Taunton where we split into 3 teams and played some 7-a-side hockey matches. We then had some cake and a drink before heading off to our accommodation for the weekend at an Activity Centre in South Molton. When we arrived, we dropped off our luggage, chose our beds and then headed off for some indoor climbing and bouldering at the centre. We had a lovely lasagne supper which had been prepared by Kevin, our wonderful chef at school. After supper we enjoyed watching an inspirational film based on a real-life story, Coach Carter and then went to bed to get a good nights sleep ready for the next busy day. The boys certainly had a good night even if sleep wasn’t particularly quick to arrive!

In the morning we had a lovely breakfast before leaving for Blundell’s school. We then split into 2 teams and enjoyed our first team experiences of playing 11 a side hockey. All the boys thoroughly enjoyed this experience and played some excellent hockey adapting their skills to the larger pitch. We were then given some lunch before heading  in to Exeter to go and watch Exeter Chiefs play Newcastle rugby at Sandy Park. The first job when we got to the ground was to decide on all our snacks which was quite a task. We then settled down ready to watch some great rugby, which Exeter won. Whilst heading back to our accommodation we heard the England v France result and so decided not to watch it, as for the majority it was not the result we were hoping for. We had takeaway pizza whilst we watched our second true inspirational film, Invictus. After a good nights sleep we packed up and loaded our stuff back on the bus to head back to school.
