Scholars' Trip to Oxford & Blenheim Palace
The academic scholars enjoyed an overnight trip to Oxford & Blenheim Palace. They visited the two Oxford colleges of Magdalen & Christ Church, and they were amazed by the history, opulence and tranquility found in the centre of the city. Given Sandroyd's own history, no trip to Oxford would be complete without seeing the eclectic collection of artefacts at the Pitt-Rivers Museum, and then they were met by Old Sandroydian, Flora, who proved to be an excellent tour guide around at Ashmolean, given that she is in her final year studying Classics. It is hoped that the trip to the city of dreaming spires will inspire these future Old Sandroydians to consider Oxford. Next day, it was off to Blenheim Palace, who very kindly opened early, to guide the scholars around the state rooms, exhibitions, and formal gardens, made all the more poignant, given the Winston Churchill connection, that it was the day before VE day.
