Maths: Junior Maths Challenge Success

This challenge is aimed at those in Years 7 & 8, although younger pupils are able to enter. It is a challenging 1-hour multiple choice paper requiring the ability to solve high-level problems.

Over 250,000 pupils from across the UK sat the Junior Maths Challenge this year with roughly the top 6% receiving a gold certificate, the next 13% silver, and the next 21% bronze.

Sandroyd pupils were awarded 7 golds, 6 silvers and 6 bronzes in total. Frank, in year 7, was ‘Best in School’ and scored enough marks to go on to the Kangaroo round. Benji and Kit, in Year 8, also qualified for this bonus round which was taken in the second week of June. Congratulations to all 3 boys for reaching such a high standard!

Well done to all those who were awarded a certificate as this is an excellent achievement. Special mention has to go to Toby, who is in Year 4, as he was awarded a bronze certificate.
