Design & Technology

Design and Technology gives children the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of designing and making functional products.

Design and Technology at Sandroyd promotes creativity and innovation through design, by exploring the designed and made world in which we all live and work.

All year groups study DT, and during weekly lessons, pupils follow problem solving techniques, using the design process to create a viable and successful solution.  Working from an initial design brief to the development of a prototype, pupils investigate, research and develop viable ideas through sketching, drawing and modelling. Using various materials and manufacturing processes, including CAD CAM, pupils then make, test, modify and evaluate their products. 

Our aim is for Design and Technology at Sandroyd to inspire as many young minds as possible and help them become some of the world’s best future designers and engineers.
