Year 8 Scholarship success

Year 8 pupils at Sandroyd are celebrating after having been offered an impressive 12 scholarships and exhibitions to leading senior schools. The 12 scholarships and exhibitions have been awarded across a wide range of areas including awards for academic, artistic, computing, dramatic and sporting talents, as well as recognition for ‘all round’ capability.

Sandroyd has a long history of preparing children for a range of senior schools, both locally and nationally. The senior schools that this year’s leavers have won awards to include Oundle School, Radley College, Sherborne School for Girls, Bryanston School, Dauntsey’s, Dean Close School, Downside, Sherborne School, and Stonar.

“It’s wonderful news that 25% of our Year 8 leavers will move onto their senior schools as scholars,” says Headmaster, Alastair Speers. “Whilst this is a remarkable achievement, our heartfelt congratulations go to all the pupils who have taken scholarships this year, whatever the result,” concludes Alastair. “The mere fact that so many of them worked towards these top rewards is an enormous feat in itself and I am incredibly proud of them all.”

Alongside these Scholarships, Year 8 pupils are also sitting Entrance examinations this week to join a range of schools, both locally and nationally, including Eton, Radley, Marlborough and Winchester.
