Year 6 Art Trip to Millfield
On Thursday 13th October, 12 Year 6s were chosen to go to Millfield on an Art trip. We were going to be making a Totem Pole inspired by Aardman Animations, like Chicken Run and Creature Comforts. We arrived and met our teacher, Mrs Mason, who was really nice. We started making sculptures out of Newplast and I made 4 sculptures. We had to soften the Newplast because when it came out of the packet it was really hard. We had to use special tools to help us sculpt and used beads for the eyes.
After about 3 hours we went and had lunch. I had roast pork with roast potatoes followed by a chocolate brownie. After lunch we went on a tour around the school and saw lots of big sculptures. We also saw the Astro, Athletics track and Swimming pool, they were all very big!
We then went back to the Art Room and carried on making our sculptures for a few hours. We then put them all together, stacking them up to make a Totem Pole, it looked very cool! We then had a drink and biscuit and packed the sculptures in a box and brought them back to school. Thank you very much to Miss Finn for organising and to Millfield for having us.
