Year 2 & 3 celebrate Roald Dahl Day
The children from Year 2 and Year 3 had a wonderful day celebrating Roald Dahl Day. The day began with the children arriving in school as Roald Dahl book characters or wearing yellow as this was Roald Dahl’s favourite colour. Then we set about finding our Roald Dahl character names, using the starting letters of our first and last names. This was followed by creating BFG dream jars complete with flickering LED lights and lots of glitter! After a quick snack and break we then played some Roald Dahl themed party games including ‘pin the newt on Miss Trunchball’ and ‘Musical Matilda’. We all thoroughly enjoyed our wonderful picnic lunch consisting of ‘snozcumber’ sandwiches, wriggly worms, giant peaches, ‘frobscottle’ and an amazing Willy Wonka inspired chocolate fountain! After lunch we completed a fun activity booklet and thought of interesting words to describe the dreams inside our jars as well as taking part in a woodland trail walk to hunt down Danny the Champion of The World and Fantastic Mr Fox. To finish the day we logged on to the live broadcast from The Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden to listen to Quentin Blake, Michael Rosen and David Walliams talking about Roald Dahl and his amazing books. What an incredibly busy but fantastic day!
