Food at Sandroyd
At Sandroyd we are committed to ensuring that all aspects of food and nutrition promote the health and wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors. Eating a balanced diet is a core part of being healthy. Our food is cooked on site by our highly trained chef, Rob Doble, and his team. Menus are carefully planned by the school Chef and the Headmaster before the beginning of each term and rotate on a monthly basis.
Daily menus and ingredients are checked daily by Sister and a member of the kitchen team and appropriate changes made for pupils with special dietary requirements. As nearly all the food is made on the premises, we are able to keep a close eye on salt and sugar intake. Our food is hydrogenated fat free.
We enjoy various themed days throughout the term and have included menus from Japan, Greece and Australia to name a few!
Sandroyd has been awarded a gold award from “Taste of the West” for its high standard of food provision and the use of local food suppliers. The majority of our meat is provided by a renowned local butcher, Julian Else, who sources all his meat. Fish is delivered from a local company. All our eggs are free range from a local supplier, Roy Jeans. Fresh fruit and vegetables are delivered to the school each day. We are proud to be awarded 5 stars from the Food standards Agency for food hygiene.
