Schools Showjumping at West Wilts EC

5 riders went to the schools SJ competition at West Wilts on Sunday 23rd April. After getting out of bed at 6.15am they all arrived at West Wilts by 8am to walk the course.

The first class was the mini teams and Ed Fuller was riding as an individual on Fox, who started well but had a problem with one jump and was unfortunately eliminated. Next to go was Wilf Jones on his pony Piper who jumped a very good clear round. Joey Kennedy on Dax then went and did a very good clear with a fast jump off section. Martha followed on Kevin and also completed with a clear round. Last for the team was Otis Morgan on Paddy who jumped very well but had one pole down in the jump off section. At the end of the class the team were placed 1st and Joey was placed 1st individual.

With confidence high they then had to walk another course for the next class which was the 80/85cm class. Ed again went first and rode a very positive round to finish with one pole down. Wilf was next to go and again jumped a clear round in quite a good time. Joey then flew round doing some very tight turns and finished with a clear round and in a fast time. Martha tried very hard and got round clear but had a technical refusal for putting a circle in as she had lost her stirrups when Kevin jumped big over one of the fences. Last to go was Otis who was going well but missed the second part of the double, he turned round and jumped it but then had a technical elimination as he should have jumped both parts again! At the end of the class the team was placed 3rd which was a huge achievement and Joey was 2nd individual which was less than a half a second behind the winner.

Well done to all our riders and looking forward to the next one!
