Walled Garden Staff Profiles

Kate Blomfield – Head of The Walled Garden

I come from a family of educators and was passionate about teaching from a very early age. After graduating from university where I studied Primary Education and Music, I completed my Newly Qualified Teacher year at an independent school in the South East of England. I stayed for a number of years before moving to an independent school in Bristol. It was at this time that my husband and I started our own family and following my first maternity leave, I moved to Sandroyd to work within the Pre-Prep department.

Since I began working at Sandroyd in 2008 I have taken on additional roles within the school, most recently as Houseparent for The Junior Boarding House and The Head of The Walled Garden, Pre-Prep.

Karen Campbell-Hill

It was not until having children of my own that I realised how much I enjoyed the company of young people and entered the unique world of ‘Early Years’!

As an EYFS teacher, I am passionate about the value of building a sound foundation to a a child’s education. The thrill I get from teaching a child to read and seeing the ‘lightbulb moment’ when all those meaningless squiggles start to make sense is still as exciting now as when I started. Having been involved with horses and farming all my life I am also enthusiastic about the value of outdoor learning and involve children of all ages in activities such as camping, campfires and cooking – whatever the weather!

Jane Lambert-Hurley

My background has been varied but has always involved learning, I have worked within adult learning and designed bespoke workshops and training programmes with my own consultancy. After having my daughter in 2007 I began to look at learning with a completely different perspective.

I am passionate about early learning, and truly feel that helping children to achieve their own goals, wishes and desires, helping them to know their self, be confident and happy, is the most rewarding role I could ever have, second only to being a mother myself.

Eloise Collis Hunter

I graduated with a BA Hons in Performing Arts seven years ago and spent my time at Bath Spa university touring productions such as Godspell and Abigail’s Party as well as reinventing classic works.

After working in London I took the opportunity to live and work in Greece, Austria and Devon, spending time surfing and snowboarding, before moving back to Dorset.

Two years ago I completed my Early Years Professional Status and have been lucky to train and work in some outstanding nurseries and pre-schools.

I enjoy working in the EYFS and KS1 and using my love of drama, dance, sports, the outside and mini-beasts to make all learning a fun and exciting experience. I look forward to getting involved in many of the school activities and running my own Performing Arts Club in the Walled Garden.
