JUNIOR QUESTIONS (YEARS 3 & 4)

1.     The capital city of the state of Arizona USA is Phoenix.

 

2.     The moons of the planet Uranus are named after

        Shakesperean characters, including Miranda and

        Juliet (name one).

 

3.     The tarantula is a spider whose fangs are so large

        they used to be used as luxury toothpicks.  Despite their

        large fangs and poisonous bite, they can be safely picked

        up by humans.

 

4.     French composer Debussy wrote many beautiful piano

        pieces including the famous Clair de Lune which means Light

        of the Moon.

 

5.     The Gila Monster (pronounced HEE-la) is a large red and

        black lizard with scales like beads that is the only species of

        poisonous lizard in the United States.

 

6.     The Grand Canyon, arguably one of the Seven Wonders of

        the World, is found in the Arizona Desert.

 

7.     The longest reigning British monarch is Queen Victoria

        who reigned for more than 60 years.

 

8.     The rattlesnake is a poisonous snake that has a rattle at

        the end of its tail which it rattles loudly when threatened.

 

9.     Which planet was discovered at Flagstaff Observatory in

        Arizona in 1930?
