This page will be broadly dedicated to all the musical activities that take place here at the school.  We hope to add reports and photos each term in addition to highlighting upcoming events which may be of interest.

 Music

In the past, our choir was supported by various adult voices and Miss Rolt, the Director of Music, would love to hear from any parents or guardians who would like to lend their voice to augment the Senior Choir at one or two special services throughout the year.

Please e-mail Miss Rolt - erolt@sandroyd.com - for further information or to express an interest

CANFORD SINGING FESTIVAL

On Friday afternoon (2 March), Year 5 went to Canford to take part in the Prep Schools' Singing Festival. The afternoon was packed full of workshops, rehearsals and sessions with Canford's singing teachers.  Miss Rolt and Miss Lorraine, as well as many parents, were extremely proud of the Year 5s when they performed with a number of other schools and the Canford Chamber Choir in an evening concert.

The programme included Arlen's Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Brown's Singing in the Rain and Fly Me To The Moon by Bart Howard. Well done Year 5! Photos to follow...

House Jingle lyrics

 Nadder

There is no doubt about it, Nadder is the one

At our work

Never shirk

And in games

We're the names

Round the school

Oh, so cool

Yes, there is no doubt about it, we're the best bar none!!

Ebble

You think that you can beat us?

We'd like to see you try.

And conquer and defeat us?

They say that pigs might fly!

So let's raise up our voices

Soprano, alto, treble.

And show them who rejoices,

And show them that we're EBBLE!!

Avon

Look at any alphabet

An A is what youll find

Sitting firmly at the top

With others far behind

A - well Always try our best

V for Victory

O well Overcome the rest

N No one can beat...

...AVON!!

Wylye

Forget the worlds great rivers,

The Amazon and Nile,

The name that we bring with us,

Outdoes them all in style!

Our power sweeps all before us,

With force that we rate highly,

Thats why you cant ignore us,

Unstoppable were Wylye!

Uppingham Skills Weekend

Saturday 19th – Sunday 20th March 2011

A group of Years 5 and 6 pupils attended the Uppingham Skills weekend at the end of last term near Rutland. The school kindly provided overnight accommodation in the various boarding houses and a hearty breakfast to prepare us for the activities that the weekend offered.

Activities offered included making and flying a kite, forensic science, sports, dance and gymnastics, beekeeping, arts and ceramics, golf, photography, king of the courts, theatre, cooking, cycling, rugby and soccer, orienteering and shooting, cricket and tennis, archery and juggling, motor workshop, basha building, camp craft and field cooking.

The Registrar of Uppingham, Mr Charlie Bostock, was particularly delighted that Sandroyd had participated in the event as he was an old Sandroydian. The children were enthralled by the stories he told of his time at the school and also his father’s memories. They were particularly interested to hear about Mr Bostock’s fond recollections of Mr Brisbane’s Latin lessons!
