PADI OPEN WATER DIVE EXPEDITION TO DAHAB, EGYPT

Depart 11th Dec return 18th Dec

After the success of the dive trip to Dahab in 2009, Sandroyd are offering currently pupils, parents and siblings the opportunity to achieve a world recognised diving qualification (PADI - open water).  The instruction and co-ordination of the trip with be undertaken by Hidden Depths Diving Services.

The trip/course requires two pool and theory sessions based at Sandroyd on the 20th Nov and 4th of Dec and completion of the course on the Coral Coast of Dahab, Egypt.  The cost of the trip including transportation, food, accommodation, diving equipment, tuition and many other extras is £900 per person.  If you are interested in the trip or would like further information please contact Mr K. Brewer (kbrewer@sandroyd.com) by 14th Oct.

--------------------------

The Sandroyd Sub Aqua Club is run in association with instructors from ‘Hidden Depths Diving’.  The are two diving courses at the school this term.  The first is PADI Seals and the other is PADI Master Seals.

PADI Seals

This course gives the children a chance to enjoy the underwater environment and experience the thrills in a safe and controlled environment in the confines of the school swimming pool.  The children will practise new skills and learn about the aquatic world – as well as having a lot of fun!

The course consists of five fun sessions (Aqua missions) and leads to certification as a PADI Seal Team member.  It does not, however, qualify one to dive.

PADI Master Seals

This course is the next progression from the Seals.  This fantastic programme is challenging and exciting, developing skills, awareness and teamwork.  There are a further ten missions to complete – these include navigation, search and rescue, wreck and night specialities.

The course is open to Years 6 and above who have completed the PADI Seals course.

For further information please contact the school office

Dahab: Egypt Dec 09

Image

The diving in Dahab was an amazing experience because diving is the chance to get up close with the aquatic life. The fish and coral of all different colours make the diving a great joy.

The week began with an early flight Sharm el Sheikh airport, followed by an hour drive to Dahab itself.  The week starts off slowly by firstly performing all the skills you have already done back in the swimming pool at Sandroyd. After you have successfully completed the skills you are officially an open water diver. When we had completed the open water course we went onto free dives which we could go to any dive site for.

Image

The diving trip also allowed plenty of time for shopping and camel treks. The hotel was fully equipped with its own swimming pool, bars, and beach and entertainment facilities. The week is a nice relaxing week with 2 dives a day; these dives are one in the morning and one either just before lunch (with a late lunch) or about half an hour after lunch.

The instructors and compulsory guide from Egypt are also kind and helpful if there is a problem. After you have assembled your equipment the team from ‘Fantasea’ dive centre will either take your equipment down to the sites on trolleys or they will load it into the pick up trucks and take you to the site.

The trip was a brilliant thoroughly enjoyable week abroad.
