ACTIVITIES Please click here to go to the Activities Form for the Autumn Term ---------------------------------- Sandroyd Boys and Girls aim to be bang on target This term has seen the development of an indoor rifle and pistol range at Sandroyd. Used by both the boys and girls during activities and at weekends. the pupils have been honing their ability to hit the bull in prone, kneeling and standing positions using both .177 rifles and hand pistols. It is hoped that a Sandroyd shooting team will participate in regional and national competitions through the National Small Bore Rifle Association.

-------------------------------------- The pupils were seriously impressed As part of the 'What can I do in the Evenings' programme, Mr Cartwright and Mr Brewer invited pupils to have the opportunity to produce freshly pressed apple juice from locally sourced apples. All the boys and girls got actively involved and were rewarded with a cup (or two) of freshly pressed apple juice.

On a scorching hot day in May, Sandroyd were very kindly hosted by Salisbury Cathedral School for the first ever Archery match for both schools. Organised by their archery instructor James Macdonald of Wild Edge (www.wildedge.co.uk) - staff, pupils and parents marvelled at the accuracy and composure of the boys and girls of mixed ages. Eight players were split into two teams to participate in three rounds involving firing three arrows at a target, ten metres from a firing line. Both teams played very well in the starting rounds and at times the margins were very tight; however Sandroyd began to pull away in the second round and opened up a strong lead in the third and final round. The final score of Sandroyd 159 points, Salisbury Cathedral School 118 was reflected upon with a delicious match tea and discussion of the game played. Well done to all!
