Friends of Sandroyd
The Friends of Sandroyd get together to hold low key social events to raise money for the school’s chosen charities. It’s run by parents, each representing a year group, who volunteer to organise parties, fairs and gentle sporting activities. We’re always keen to hear suggestions for fundraising and everyone is more than welcome to help.
The school year starts with a game of rounders with a picnic lunch which gives new parents a chance to meet new friends. The Rock & Roll evening is next, great fun but sadly only Year 8s are invited, along with pupils from other local schools. At the end of November, just as the Christmas panic levels rise, we hold our annual Christmas Fair in the theatre which is a wonderfully festive event with fantastic and varied stalls. Early in the Spring term we have the Quiz which, thanks to Mr Coulson and his eclectic questions, is always a very amusing night. Towards the end of the Summer term is the Fete, a real highlight with games hosted by the Leavers as well as a bouncy castle, the greasy pole, plants, books, pony rides and of course Cream Teas.
The Friends really do value the support of the Sandroyd staff and parents. Without their time, effort and money we wouldn’t have been able to raise the huge amount of money for very good causes – Tusk Trust, Whizz Kids, RNLI, Trussel Trust, Naomi House to name a few. The total for the past five years is £12,000 and with your help we can raise even more.
If you’d like to join us on the committee or have ideas on how we could fund raise, please get in touch.
