National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) Jumping with Style Championships We are proud of our qualifiers! Back in February and April this year a team of Harry Lane, Charlie Davies, Alexander Stephenson and Tarquin Stephenson qualified for the NSEA Jumping with Style Championships and this Saturday, 29 November 2008, they will be off to compete against all the other qualifying schools at the College Equestrian Centre in Keysoe, Bedfordshire. We wish you every success.
GOOD LUCK! Miss Beament Here are a couple of shots of the Stephensons in action!
--------------------------------- Bruton School for Girls Inter-School Hunter Trials Aldon Park On Sunday 14th September 2008, a week into the Autumn Term, a team of Charlie Davies, Teddy Hughes, Georgie Lane, Alick Salomon and our individual rider Anna Rocke, took part in the Bruton School for Girls Inter-Schools Hunter Trials to compete in the 11 years and under 2’6” – 2’9” class. Aldon Park in Yeovil, Somerset was the venue. A prestigious British Eventing course which is set within a “bowl”, ideal for spectators but a demanding course even for the most suspecting riders and their mount. The challenging design of substantially built jumps on gradient ground proved to be testing when tackled at speed by Charlie Davies on his pony Lightning as both took a bath in the water jump! (Miss Beament wished she’d had her camera – what a splash!) As Teddy, Georgie and Alick found out it is not an easy task to stay focused when held up on a course such as this by stewards especially when 2 other team members are closing in and asked to take over. Along the way our team had a few stops and moments of confusion but by chance managed to come 3rd in the end and, individually, Anna Rocke rode a careful round to achieve an acceptable time of 0.45 seconds in the timed section. Not an easy course by any means and there are some lessons to be learned but overall an achievement – well done! Miss Beament sadly forgot her camera on the day and would like to thank Mrs. Salomon for supplying the school with these lovely photos of Alick enjoying his team’s success of coming 3rd. Many thanks to all the parents for their help on the day!

Picnic Ride There is no better way than on horse back to enjoy the spectacular grounds of Sandroyd School and its surroundings of Rushmore Estate. So, on Sunday 28th September 2008 the Riding Department arranged a picnic ride for a large group of mixed ability riders and their parents. For many of our riders it was their first experience of a picnic ride and their response since has been with great enthusiasm. It was an adventure and hopefully one of many rides we can offer in and around such beautiful school grounds in the future. On behalf of the Riding Department a big “thank you” to all parents and staff involved for your invaluable help and support on such a wonderful day. Photographs supplied by Mrs. Aggett with thanks.
